Sloan Canyon Petroglyph site is located in the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area. This is one of the most important archaeological sites in Nevada, with over 300 separate rock art panels and around 1,700 individual designs. The Petroglyphs are etched into the weathered patina of the dark volcanic boulders with a great variety of designs, including anthropomorphic figures, animals, hunt scenes and geometric shapes. The Sloan Canyon Petroglyph site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 19, 1978.
