Cold Creek
Mount Charleston
Charleston > Cold Creek
Cold Creek gets its name from the cold spring water that runs through the valley and feeds into the ponds located there. The City of Cold Creek is off grid and the wild horses are made up of descendants of 1800s horse trade escapees and horses abandoned by Native Americans, Las Vegas settlers, ranchers, and prospectors.
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is comprised of rugged mountains with towering cliffs, steep hillsides, and deep narrow canyons, which are surrounded by a desert landscape. The area’s elevation ranges from 3,000 feet to 11,918 feet at the top of Charleston Peak which creates a variety of climate and vegetation zones including some 18,000 acres of Bristlecone Pine.
