La Madre Mountains Wilderness Area

Brownstone Canyon

Brownstone Canyon Archaeological District comprises 2,920 acres and is located in the La Madre Mountain Wilderness Area which cover 47,180 acres. The canyon is filled with both pictographs & petroglyphs.


Summerlin Peak

Summerlin Peak is located on the Northwest side of the Las Vegas Valley at the very northeast end of the La Madre Mountain Range. Summerlin Peak sits at an elevation of 5082 feet.


La Madre Miner’s Cabin

La Madre miner’s cabin trail is a nice, but dificult hike to the cabin and mine. The trail passes through the La Madre Springs which run year round and provides a habitat for marsh vegetation and water for the animals of Red Rock Canyon.


New Peak ‘El Hijo’

New Peak is located in the La Madre Mountain Wilderness Area and is one of several minor summits in the Calico Basin section of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. New Peak sits west of Kraft Mountain.


La Madre Springs

The spring which runs year round provide a habitat for marsh vegetation and a critical water source for wildlife, and create a unique microhabitat for tree frogs, hummingbirds and a variety of plants that can survive nowhere else in this desert.
